MXI-4 Series: PXI Bus Expansion Board

![]() |
overviewThe MXI-4 PXI bus extender allows direct control of the PXI system from any PCI slot in a desktop computer or server. The MXI-4 interface card can also be used to link multiple PXI chassis. MXI-4 technology utilizes high bandwidth links that are transparent to software applications and drivers, allowing for the use of high-performance desktop computers or servers to control PXI systems. characteristicDue to the fact that PXI is based on the industry standard PCI bus, the MXI-4 bus extender provides a transparent link where all PXI modules are like the PCI board of the computer itself to the user. At the same time, using PXI technology, users can benefit from more slots, power and heat dissipation per slot, module selection, and synchronization functions. In addition, with the fiber optic MXI-4, you can isolate the PXI measurement hardware from the PC's long-distance cable of up to 200 meters. The MXI-4 series is based on the standard PCI-PCI bridge architecture, which divides the bridge into two half bridges and connects them through a 1.5 Gb/s serial link. The PCI specification allows up to 255 buses to be connected in a system through PCI-PCI bridges, such as the MXI-4 series. The MXI-4 supports 3.3 V and 5 V PCI signal environments, error checking, and retransmission on serial links, providing higher reliability in electrical noise or harsh environments, and offering industrial rugged connectors. The MXI-4 chain is composed of MXI-4-PCI-C (copper) or MXI-4-PCI-F (fiber optic) boards in a PC, which are connected to MXI-4-PXI-C (copper) or MXI-4-PXI-F (fiber optic) modules through appropriate cables. For convenience, a complete MXI-4 kit containing all necessary components can be provided, or components can be purchased separately. |
Multi chassis systemThe MXI-4 bus extender can be used to connect multiple PXI chassis in a star or daisy chain configuration in a single system, connect two PXI chassis together, install MXI-4-PXI cards into any peripheral slot of the host chassis, and connect the corresponding cables to the second MXI-4-PXI in slot 1 of the slave chassis. application
